What is the Read-A-Thon?
The Read-A-Thon is San Gabriel PTA's main fundraiser and raised over $38,,000 last year. Our goal is to raise $25,000 this year to support all of PTA's programs for San Gabriel Elementary School in Atascadero, CA. This annual fundraiser remains the primary reason that our students are able to participate in the following:
• Educational Field Trips (California Missions, PAC performances, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Local Museums, Botanical Gardens and the Cal Poly Dairy)
• School Assemblies (Celtic Spring, Kyle's Cartoon Platoon, Hands on Science Exhibits, and the AHS Show Choir)
• STEAM Expo, Meet the Masters, Reading Incentive & School Garden Programs
Without funds from the Read-A-Thon, our students would not have these educational opportunities in the arts, sciences, math and reading.
The Read-A-Thon runs from April thru May. It all starts with the Kick-Off Assembly scheduled for Friday, April 8th. The Read-A-Thon Logo Contest is ongoing and logos submission are due on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 by 12 noon. Read-A-Thon Logo Winner Announced will be announced on April 22,2022 by 3PM.
Each class will have time to read on the week of April 19th-25th and students can continue reading when they are home. Each student will record the number of minutes read and submit their time to their teacher or onto a Google Form. Students then ask their family, friends, and neighbors to sponsor them with a donation. Donation amounts can be a flat donation or a rate based on the student's time (i.e. $1 per minute). Donations may be made online. All donations are tax deductible and receipts are available in the school office or online. There are a lot of prizes and incentives for students who participate and fundraise. The deadline to submit all Read-A-Thon donations for all contests and prizes is May 2, 2022.
